To be registered as stallions or broodmares by Thai Stud Book, horses must be retested for blood type profile or DNA type profile and have the recent profile matched against the profile from when they were registered as foals. To become eligible for acceptance into Thai Stud Book’s official records, all foals born in Thailand must be parentage validated whereby a foal’s blood type profile or DNA type profile is matched against its sire and dam’s blood type profile or DNA type profile and the result must show inclusion.Ĩ. Imported horses are considered officially registered when their identification have been checked against, and found to match, the details on Export certificate from the stud book authority of its country of birth.ħ. Identification process includes the recording of natural visible features such as color, whorls, markings and other acquired markings such as brands or tattoos, and, the horse’s age, blood type profile or DNA type profile. All horses must be accurately identified before being accepted into Thai Stud Book’s official records. Such promotions shall be approved by the unanimous agreement of the International Stud Book Committee.Ħ. Horses entered as foals in the Non-Thoroughbred Register are eligible for promotion to the “Thoroughbred” status if it can be proven that, the horse is a product of eight verified and recorded consecutive thoroughbred crosses including the cross of which it is a progeny, and, it can show a record of high standard in racing performance. Only horses meeting the qualifications of a thoroughbred as described in No.14 of Definition and Terms will be admitted to the Thai Stud Book.ĥ.

Thai Stud Book will separate horses upon registration into either the thoroughbred or non-thoroughbred category. Under the Rules of Racing, only horses born in Thailand that have been accepted into the Thai Stud Book or the Non-Thoroughbred Register are eligible to register for racing.Ĥ. The Thai Stud Book and the Non-Thoroughbred Register shall contain official parentage pedigree and identification records of all racehorse foals born in Thailand. Any Foal resulting from or produced by the processes of Artificial Insemination, Embryo Transfer or Transplant, Cloning or any other form of genetic manipulation even though not herein specified, shall not be eligible for recording in any Thoroughbred Stud Book approved by the International Stud Book Committee.ģ. A natural gestation must take place in, and delivery must be from, the body of the same Mare in which the Foal was conceived.As an aid to the mating and if authorized by the Stud Book Authority of a country certifying the Thoroughbred, a portion of the ejaculate produced by the Stallion during such mating may immediately be placed in the reproductive tract of the Mare being bred. The Thoroughbred must be the result of a Stallion’s mating with a Mare, which is the physical mounting of a Mare by a Stallion with intromission of the penis and ejaculation of semen into the reproductive tract.A foal is eligible to be recorded in an approved Thoroughbred Stud Book only if the following conditions are met: The promotion is approved by the unanimous agreement of the International Stud Book Committee.Ģ.The horse’s pedigree can show such performances in races open to Thoroughbreds in both the Thoroughbred and Non-Thoroughbred sections of its pedigree as to warrant its assimilation with Thoroughbreds.The horse can prove eight Thoroughbred crosses consecutively including the cross of which it is a progeny.

For a horse to be eligible to be recorded in an approved Thoroughbred Stud Book, the horse must be a product of a mating between a sire and a dam, both of which are recorded in an approved Thoroughbred Stud Book or either or both must have been promoted from a Non-Thoroughbred register under the terms specified as below:
